WHO IS HANSFORDS?

Hansfords is one of the largest fishing tackle shops in hampshire,catering for all aspects of angling. The shop has existed in Fareham for 75 years, it is a family run business and Tony,Chris and Claire Poingdestre has been proud to serve the angling community for the past 25 years of its 75 year existence.

Hansfords' huge display rooms let you fully appreciate the large stocks of leading brand fishing tackle on offer. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are always on hand to provide you with expert advice on fishing tackle and local venues. Hansfords carries a vast range of fresh and frozen bait from local dug ragworm to boilies and maggots for all angling disciplines of all ages

Whats inside Hansfords?

Don’t be mistaken by the small shop front. Once inside HANSFORDS OF FAREHAM it is almost tardis like.
This hugely stocked store is packed with tackle bargains to tempt anglers from all disciplines of the sport, and those in the know are tempted to travel miles to shop there.
The 3000sq ft plus showroom is cleverly split between 4 main areas.” terminal tackle and bait” area (pictured below) with plenty of choice from korum, middy, drennan, preston, fox, korda, sonu baits, senses, nutrabaits, mainline and many more, The “clothing zone” (pictured below) full of all the latest winter clothing deals and footwear including hunter and Barbour as well as the major tackle brands. The “rod room” (pictured above)There are over 300 rods on display here! The “bivvy room”(pictured above) is crammed with all the latest deals on luggage, beds, chairs, bivvys and accessories, any bivvy can be easily erected before you buy, and the room is so long a 16mtr pole can be set up easily. A very pleasant shopping experience.
Hansfords are also very proud of their customer service and local knowledge. Their helpful staff are always on hand with tips and advice, and although the team is relatively young they have over 50 years tackle shop experience between them and nothing is too much trouble.

Claire Poingdestre

Claire has been involved in the shop and the fishing industry for 25 years. What she doesn't know about fishing tackle probably isn't worth knowing. Claire is very procactive in promoting fishing to the local juniors through various events that she organises. These events have produced a number of England Junior trialists. Charlton is the youngest member of the team and is the self-confessed ''Codmaster'', although he''s only caught one small Codling that we know of. Charlton is well versed in all aspects of beach and boat fishing with an excellent knowledge of local marks and how to tackle them. He''s well up on all the best gear and how to tie the latest rigs. Charlton''s shore PB is an 11lb Smoothound. Just don''t ask him about falling in and losing what was almost certainly a British record Dogfish!

The longest serving member of the Hansfords'' team, with a broad knowledge of all angling disciplines. Although a carp angler at heart, Mike also goes sea fishing, and continues to chase the ''mythical'' large bass that he gets told about every week in the shop, but can''t seem to catch. Mike has caught carp in the UK to 35lb.

Daryl enjoys sea and carp fishing. His respective pbs are 29lb 12oz carp from local venue River Farm and a 9lb smoothound and 6lb 8oz bass. He likes to use his carp fishing knowledge to tie up some weird and wonderful sea rigs ('keep it simple Daryl!!'). Daryl has an excellent knowledge of all angling disciplines including bass fly fishing and has just started kayak fishing.
